Procedure

Bareboat charter means the hiring of a ship for a stipulated period which give the charterer possession and control of the ship, including the right to appoint the master and crew.
  1. A bareboat charter-in registration is for 2 years, which may be extended upon application. The procedure is as follows:
    1. Submit application online (Check ship name on line);
    2. Fax the following documents to the Registrar:
      1. Certified copy of the charter party;
      2. Letter of consent from the Registrar of the original registry of the ship;
      3. Remittance details for fees payable.
      4. Accounting Authority Appointment Letter (for vessels fitted with radio/satellite communications equipment)
    3. Registrar confirms application and fees payable. Upon receipt of payments, registrar will issue the provisional certificate of registry (bareboat charter), C & M note and the temporary safe manning certificate and temporary radio station licence (as required);

  2. The provisional registration is valid for 6 months and may be extended for an additional 6 months upon application. The Registrar will transfer the ship to the permanent register upon receipt of the following documents:
    1. Original certified copy of the charter party;
    2. Original copy of the letter of consent from the Registrar of the original registry of the ship;
    3. Certified C & M note.

  3. The permanent certificate of registry (bareboat charter) will be issued together with the safe manning certificate and radio station licence (as required). No additional fees are charged for the transfer, except for any adjustment in the fees due to differences in the final tonnage figures. Mortgages may be recorded in register upon notification by the Registrar of the original registry of the ship.
